National Conference 2022

May 2022 - Now that I’m back after attending the National Conference I would just like to say what a privilege it was for both myself and Pam to attend the Conference.

Hopefully over the next few days the Motions, Membership Forum and the Awards Ceremony will also be available via YouTube.

I can also inform you that so many of the Membership Council Members and other Branches commented on the work of Spain District North, our Social Media, including the District Magazine, Web Page and respective Branch Facebook Group Pages, many also commented on our support to Beneficiaries.

I would like to thank you all, keep up the good work and support to Members and Beneficiaries.

National Awards for Spain District North

The Awards Ceremony took place on Sunday. As your District Chairman I’m enormously pleased to inform you that within Spain District North we collected three awards:

The 1st Awards was collected by Pam Twissell-Cross MBE on behalf of MABS Cancer Support Foundation.

MABS - Cancer Support Foundation were awarded the Knox Shield, in recognition of its inspirational work supporting those, including veterans, dealing with cancer.  Many congratulations for your outstanding work.

I can also confirm that the Chair and Members of the Cups & Shields Committee were delighted to inform the National Conference that Alicante Branch were the Winners of the McCrae Shield for the third year in succession and also the Haig Cup for the second year in succession.

The McCrae Shield was collected by Alicante Branch Chairman John Pratt, and the Haig Cup by Jack Kemp, who was the Chairman of the Alicante Branch during the citation period.

As a District we should all be very proud that MABS and Alicante Branch have been recognised in The Royal British Legion National Awards for 2022. Well done and many congratulations. (Jack Kemp)
