City of Benidorm pays its respects to The Queen
We are most grateful to the Mayor and city of Benidorm for their kind thoughts and solidarity at this sad time and publish to following statement with our profound gratitude.
Benidorm bids farewell to Queen Elizabeth II
The City Council shows its accompaniment, remembrance and affection in Plaza Derramador with the Union Flag at half mast.
The City Council of Benidorm has set up in the Plaza Derramador, together with the Municipal Tourism Office of Rincón de Loix and the Foreign Tourist Service, a place of Tribute and Remembrance to the late Queen Elizabeth II, open to the public today from 1:00 p.m. hours.
In the square, the Union Flag flag flies at half mast. At its foot, a laurel wreath with the name of the city, Benidorm, and a white flower, in memory of the sovereign, as a symbol of respect and condolences for her death, completes the simple tribute of Benidorm in the Farewell of Queen Elizabeth II.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, has highlighted, "the singularity of her reign, her passion and her dedication to the Crown and the British people".
The mayor has testified his condolences through messages to the British colony through the Social Networks and communication systems of the Benidorm City Council, to Ambassador Elliot and the Consulate in Alicante, highlighting that "from Benidorm we recognize the dedication, dedication and services from His Majesty to the British Crown and to its people”, pointing out that Benidorm “joins the sorrow of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and countries of the Commonwealth of Nations, for the death of Queen Elizabeth II”.
British tourism is fundamental and decisive in Benidorm. The British, from the origins of tourism in this city, have always expressed their preferences for Benidorm. At the moment 12,000 British tourists are staying in Benidorm hotels for short stays and, with respect to other types of stays -in campsites, apartments and second homes- the estimate reaches 13,000 British.
In addition, 4,081 Britons are registered in Benidorm, which represents 5.45% of the population.
For this reason, Mayor Toni Pérez has reiterated "our condolences from the closeness and affection towards all British people", highlighting that the Place of Tribute and Remembrance of the late Queen will remain in the Plaza del Derramador while the official mourning lasts, being open to the expressions of respect and condolences of the British, members of the Commonwealth of Nations and any other nationality that wishes to join
