The Branch Community Support (BCS) scheme has recently been updated. Branches now have fully trained and registered BCS supporters who are delivering assistance within the North & East Yorkshire area, to support its beneficiaries. There are individuals living in every community who may need assistance and the wide network of branches delivering BCS provides the local link.
However, all requests for help of any kind must be directed to the RBL call centre (0800 802 8080) and not to branches.
Branch Activities - branches can provide basic support to individuals in their community through activities such as:
Telephone buddies:
Tackling loneliness and isolation by giving individuals an opportunity to talk to someone regularly over the phone.
Home and hospital visits:
Helping to tackle loneliness and isolation by becoming/recruiting a Home & Hospital Visitor. The role gives individuals the opportunity to experience companionship and be part of the community, as well as just having a coffee and a chat.
All requests for help will be actioned by the RBL and the MEO will receive the request. It will then be passed on to the nearest branch, who have fully trained and registered BCS supporters, ready to help.
