Call for Volunteers!

As we enter October, Suzanne Webb, the Poppy Appeal Organiser (PAO), is busily getting ready for the launch this years Poppy Appeal!

For the uninitiated the Poppy Appeal isn’t just about the 2 weeks in The Ryemarket and Tesco. The merchandise needs to be collected and allocated into separate boxes. The collection tins need to be catalogued and labelled. The stock is then distributed to local schools, clubs and businesses before the fortnight starts. After Remembrance all the surplus merchandise must be collected in along with the collection tins. The excess stock is recorded then either returned or stored for future use. The cash needs to be counted and banked, with precise records kept of what was in each tin.

I am aware that we all live busy lives but if you are able to spare a little of your precious time it would be greatly appreciated. Even one shift helping out on a stall or a couple of hours distributing or collecting merchandise make a difference. If you are able to assist, in any way, please contact Suzanne on:

Let's see if we can improve on the £37.000 raised last year.

Without the volunteers it just doesn’t work, so thanks in anticipation!
