The Band of the King's Division

The Band is an amalgamation of the former King's Division Bands (Normandy and Waterloo) and is based at Weeton Barracks, Preston.

The Band of The King’s Division is notable for being the Regular Army’s first professional Brass Band. It is one of three full-time bands, alongside The Band of The Royal Corps of Signals and The Band of The Prince of Wales’s Division, created as part of the restructuring of Army music capabilities in mid-2014.

Since their formation in April, they have attracted attention from around the world as well as making a name for themselves winning prizes at the famous Whit Friday marches and playing concerts at the both the European Finals in Perth and the Great Northern Brass Arts festival in Manchester. The band has had pieces written for them by a number of leading composers including Philip Sparke and Paul Hindmarsh. They also enjoy a working relationship with leading brass band figures including Garry Cutt and Gordon Higginbottom.

This superbly flexible and versatile ensemble is able to provide musical support for almost any occasion from a full 32 piece concert band, marching band and 18 Piece fanfare team, to small ensembles such as ten-piece and quintets.

The Corps of Army Music are currently recruiting to each of these new ensembles, especially those instrumentalists not traditionally associated with Military Bands, such as Baritones, Soprano Cornets, Tenor Horns, Flugel Horns and BBb Basses.
