The Royal British Legion plays a pivatol role in local
communities across Great Britain, and we rely up on the help of our
members to carry this out. There are many ways that people
can become involved in various aspects of Royal
British Legion life, such as through
involvement with welfare and the Poppy Appeal.
It is essential that all our community work is tailored to be
inclusive and responsive to the needs of the serving and ex-Service
community, along with their dependents. Public awareness
is a vital feature of Royal British Legion work, as this helps to
develop the publics' understand of the multi-faceted role, the RBL
plays in supporting people. At present our members
participate in a variety of events which
does include:
- Local Fetes/Fairs
- Open Evenings
- Concerts
- Armed Forces Day
- Community Carnivals, Military Air Shows & Open Days.
If you have an event planned then let our County HQ know
about it! The 'Legion in the Community' (LIC) scheme is a
perfect opportunity to publicise your Royal British Legion event
and to encourage others from within Greater Manchester to take a
more active role.
You can also get in touch with the County Manager if you want to
know more about 'Legion in the Community'. LIC speakers can
also be requested to speak at your Group, Branch
Meetings or tenents/residents associations. Don't be shy invite him
