Remembrance in Petts Wood
The Royal British Legion is the national custodian of Remembrance. In Petts Wood, our branch leads the local commemoration of those who gave their lives in service of our country and of all those who serve today.
Remembrance Sunday Service
Each year on Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, the Petts Wood Branch organises the local parade and service of commemoration. The parade assembles on Queensway and marches to either St Francis of Assisi Church or the United Reform Church for a service beginning at [TIME]. We then continue the parade to the Memorial Gardens https://www.pettswoodmemorialhall.co.uk, for a short service, wreath laying and the two minutes silence. All members of the public are warmly welcome.
The Two-Minute Silence
At 11am on Remembrance Sunday, the nation falls silent for two minutes to remember the fallen. We encourage everyone in Petts Wood to pause, wherever they are and take part.
VE Day 80th Anniversary — May 2025
In May 2025, the Petts Wood Branch was proud to take part in the national VE Day 80th Anniversary celebrations. [ADD SHORT DESCRIPTION OF WHAT THE BRANCH DID — e.g. 'The branch joined the community at [location] for a commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe, with a parade, wreath-laying and community gathering.']
