2018/19

This year saw the centenary of the end of WW1. The Branch was fortunate in engaging with the Stuart Singers to help them celebrate the anniversary with a concert held at Minchinhampton Parish Church. Ably supported by the local Scouting organisations and Minchinhampton Primary School choir, the community enjoyed an evening of music and a history lesson presented by the Scouts.

Our thanks go to all who supported the production of the event, and to everyone who supported the concert, which raised £1,200 for the Poppy Appeal.

Once again this year, members have been well catered for at the annual barbecue. This raised £330.00 for the appeal.

As we go to press with this bulletin, the total raised by the Branch members, community and local businesses for this year currently stands at £ 6340.19p, although there is an opportunity to increase this tally further with a stall at the Minchinhampton Country Fayre in the town in mid-September.

2017/18

The Branch was able to kick-start the Poppy Appeal year in October 2017 with a small team of runners taking part in the Poppy Run held at Cheltenham Race Course. Our thanks go to the Directors and staff at Acorn Powell in Quedgeley, for their support and participation in the event, and for the very generous donation made to the Branch Poppy Appeal.

In August 2018 members were invited to join in the Branch summer barbecue. It was a lovely sunny day and the 'guests' were treated to sausages, burgers and kebabs, along with a selection of salads, followed by ice cream, in return for their much appreciated donations to the Poppy Appeal.

During the year, the Branch raised £ 5671.28p in support of the ongoing work of the Royal British Legion.
