Ilminster

Denis Lucy Prize

The award is presented in memory of Denis Lucy, who died in 2010 and had been an officer in the Royal Ulster Rifles. He moved to Ilminster a number of years ago, and was a keen supporter of the Ilminster Royal British Legion branch and the Army Cadet Force. His son, William, who served as an officer with the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars in the 1980s, has a good understanding of soldiers and the need to supplement their personal kit with items they need to buy for themselves. The aim of the Denis Lucy prize is to present a cash prize annually so a member of the Ilminster ACF can buy items of kit they would otherwise have to fund themselves.
