"My name is Malcolm (Mal) McPhail and I am now the Wiltshire Rep for the Royal British Legion Riders. Basically I took the position on last year during COVID and I am now trying to make contacts across the county.
The Riders Branch has a membership of approx 5000, covering all of UK, including Northern Ireland. We also have members in many overseas areas. I believe this makes us one of the largest Branches in the Legion.
Our collections for the Poppy Appeal usually cover Tesco at Swindon and Tidworth, Waitrose at Swindon and Devizes Town Centre (in conjunction with Franklin Richmond) and any local support would be much appreciated.
Going forward, I would like to visit all RBL Branches in Wiltshire in 2022 and give a presentation on the Riders Branch and hopefully encourage and build relationships. I think it is vital that as we are all members of the RBL, we should be collaborative and work together as much as possible to ensure that we can give as much support to our members as we can.  

We have our monthly meetings on the 1st Wednesday of every month in the Wyvern Club Devizes at 20:00 hrs and new members are always welcome.. The next meeting will be 3rd August, but we will not be having a meeting in September due to holiday commitments etc. The Wiltshire Branch has 191 members and there is the usual small core who get involved in events etc.
Obviously Covid has had a big impact on us but we have been able to do an Easter egg run to Salisbury Hospital in April and we also had a stall at Wroughton Carnival on Sat 9th July. Our next big event is the Calne Bike Meet on 30th July. That is a big event with bikes travelling from all over the place. Live music and something for everyone to have a great day out.
As we are the Wiltshire Branch, we also support other RBL branches and work very closely with Devizes and Stratton. When resources allow, we will also attend Remembrance Parades across the County.
Also, if requested, we will supply a motorcycle escort for funerals, weddings or other such events.

I am also available to give a presentation to other RBL clubs or organisations on the history and role of the Riders Branch.
