Torrevieja Pipes and Drums
The Torrevieja Pipes and Drums was formed 4 years ago by 2 of
the existing pipers and 1 of the drummers (minus a drum). Thanks to
an article in the local press the numbers swelled. Now they have 6
pipers and 6 drummers with other members who join them when they
are here from the UK. The latest member to join is Mark who
delights the spectators with his highland dancing display. They are
becoming well know and are in great demand for burns suppers, St
Patrick´s day, St Andrew´s day and New Year's Eve events. Many of
the local towns on the Costa Blanca organize European Days and are
delighted when the band agree to play for them. The local Royal
British Legion Branches are also very pleased when the band
supports their events. Some of the towns are now looking into the
possibility of incorporating them in with their Moors and Christian
parades and the band was highly delighted to lead a Christian group
in the parade at Murcia last year.
