The Ceremonial Team

 

The County Parade Marshal (CPM) appointed by the County Chair heads the Ceremonial Team for Oxfordshire and is responsible for all matters relating to:

  • Actively involved in the planning and organisation of all County Events which
    include a ceremonial element.
  • To encourage within the County, interest in learning, practicing and upgrading Standard
    Bearing Drills and Ceremonial Procedures through Training and promoting the RBL vision, values and code of behaviour for working together.  To organise training courses for novices and experienced Standard Bearers/Marshals.
  • To organise specialist training courses for Judges in Standard Bearers' Competitions. 
  • To contribute to the planning and organisation of the County Standard Bearers' Competition.
  • To encourage all County Branches to follow the procedures outlined in the
    Ceremonial Handbook for the induction of newly-elected officers.

The County Standard Bearer works alongside the County Parade Marshal the planning and organisation of County Events and assists in the training and support of County Branch Standard Bearers

Oxfordshire Standard Bearer Training Dates

 

Standard Bearer Training Dates for 2026.
All training sessions offered free to all County Branches and CSBs, all you need to bring is the sling, gauntlets and standard - and a sense of humour!  The sessions are designed to train novice, refresher for experienced and to offer guidance on all matters ceremonial which enables the Standard Bearer to return to their Branch confident in the requirements of the drill movements and dress and deportment.
The training will be held at Stanton Harcourt Village Hall unless notified of any change.

Additionally, there is an Oxfordshire Standard Bearer Forum on WhatsApp which is used extensively for advice and guidance, arrangements for training session and notifications of events, ceremonial parades and funerals.  If you are a Standard Bearer and not part of this community please contact Pete Clarke on [email protected] , it can be guaranteed you will receive a friendly welcome from all the Standard Bearers in the County.
