WW2 Veterans Receive Citizen of Honour of the City of Liverpool

 Citizen Of Honour Certificate

The City of Liverpool will honour the surviving Service men and women including Merchant Seafarers who were born in or live in the City and served in the Second World War by bestowing on them the Citizen of Honour of the City of Liverpool in recognition of the part they played in ensuring our freedom.

At an Extraordinary Meeting of the City Council of the City of Liverpool held on Wednesday 11 June 2014 within the Town Hall, in the presence of The Right Worshipful, The Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councillor Gary Millar and a full Council, it was moved by the Mayor of Liverpool Mr Joe Anderson OBE and seconded by the Leader of the Opposition Party, Liverpool City Council, Councillor John Coyne and resolved unanimously that:

Service men and women including Merchant Seafarers who served in the Second World War receive the Citizen of Honour of the City of Liverpool in recognition of the part they played in ensuring our freedom.

The Royal British Legion Cheshire & Merseyside Area Office will assist the City of Liverpool by administering the application process in their Pop In Centre in Williamson Street, Liverpool, L1 1EB. The Legion Pop In is open every weekday between  10am and 4pm.

WW2 Veterans or their families can pop in to the centre, call or fill in an application on line. Legion Information Volunteers will then process the applications and Citizen of Honour Certificates will be sent to the veteran by the Town Hall.
