Lady Darnley

RETIREMENT OF
THE LORD LIEUTENANT
In September 2020 The Dowager Countess of Darnley retired from office after 12 years of representing Her Majesty The Queen as the Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire. Lady Darnley was, and remains, an ardent supporter of the Royal British Legion so we thought it appropriate to mark the occasion, although it was rather lower key than we would have wished owing to the restrictions placed upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The County Chairman organised an 'At Home' cream tea and a glorious, warm afternoon in mid-September was spent in Barbara and Bob Leeson's garden. Tea and conversation flowed and Barbara had been baking since dawn so the table was laden with a lovely selection of home made cakes and savouries.
Lady Darnley was presented with a cut glass vase and bouquet of flowers as a token of thanks from the County for her unwavering support and dedication during her term of office.
