Thelma Acland is skydiving to raise funds for the Legion
Thelma Acland, Longhope & District Branch member is skydiving with the Army Parachute Association to raise funds for Poppy Appeal. Thelma turned 77 on June 29th, and despite her age she has signed up to do a tandem skydive with the Army Parachute Association. It is due to take place (weather permitting) at Netheravon, on Salisbury Plain, next Sunday, 7th July 2019. Thelma has long wished she could fly like a bird and, as she says, “This is going to be the closest I’m likely to get to doing it. My husband did the Legion's Western Front Trek in 2018 and I feel that I would like to do something out-of-the-ordinary like that for the Poppy Appeal myself - hence the skydive! Please support me - any amount, large or small, will help me reach my target of £1,000.”
Her fund-raising has gone well, and she would warmly welcome any further donations. These can be made via the fund-raising websitehttp://justgiving.com/fundraising/Thelma-Acland and all the money raised will go to the Poppy Appeal.
