❤️ Who We Support Across Devon

Standing beside the Armed Forces community — today, tomorrow, always

As the Royal British Legion in Devon, our mission is simple: to ensure that every member of the Armed Forces community feels supported, valued, and never alone. Across our towns, villages, moorland communities, and coastal towns, we’re here for those who serve, those who have served, and the families who stand beside them.

Devon’s military heritage runs deep — and so does our commitment.

Serving Personnel

From the Royal Marines at RMB Chivenor to those connected with HMNB Devonport, we proudly support all who currently serve.
Our help includes:

  • Guidance during challenging times
  • Support with housing, finances, and wellbeing
  • Community connections for those far from home

Wherever you’re based, you’re part of our Devon family.

Veterans

Devon is home to thousands of veterans, each with a unique story and journey.
We support veterans with:

  • Transition advice and practical guidance
  • Mobility and independent‑living support
  • Companionship and social opportunities

Your service may be behind you, but our support never ends.

Service Families

Behind every serving person is a family who serves in their own way.
Across Devon, we support:

  • Spouses and partners
  • Children and young people
  • Bereaved families
  • Carers of veterans

Whether you need emotional support, financial advice, or simply someone who understands military life, we’re here.

Reservists

Devon’s reservists balance civilian careers with military commitment — a unique challenge that deserves recognition.
We help reservists with:

  • Employment and rights advice
  • Support during mobilisation
  • Access to welfare services
  • Community connections

Your dual role strengthens Devon, and we’re proud to stand behind you.

Older Members of the Armed Forces Community

Devon’s rural and coastal geography can make isolation a real challenge.
We support older veterans and families by offering:

  • Home visits and outreach
  • Social groups and community events
  • Help accessing benefits and services
  • Support with mobility and independence

No one should feel forgotten — especially those who gave so much.

Additional Organisations We Proudly Support

Veterans With Dogs

We are proud to support Veterans With Dogs, the UK’s leading organisation providing Assistance Dog partnerships for veterans with mental health conditions, including PTSD.
Their work transforms lives, offering independence, confidence, and emotional support.

Invictus Games

We also support the Invictus Games, an international adaptive sporting event for wounded, injured, and sick serving personnel and veterans.
The Games celebrate resilience, determination, and the power of sport in recovery.

Why we do it

Because service deserves respect.
Because sacrifice deserves recognition.
Because no member of the Armed Forces community should ever face life’s challenges alone.

In Devon, the Royal British Legion is more than a charity — we’re a community, a support network, and a promise that help is always within reach.
