Ashburton Remembers

The WW1 commemoration weekend commenced with a service at the War Memorial on Sunday, 3 August at 10am.

There was then a parade to St Andrews Church, led by Parade Marshall, Martyn Brooks and the Royal Marines Cadet Corp of Drummers. At 10.30am there was a service at St Andrews Church.

In the afternoon of 3 August there was a Poppy picnic at the legion hut and an excellent raffle was organised by Teresa Patmore and all profits will go to the Poppy Appeal.

On Monday 4 August there was a half-muffled ringing of the bells at St Andrews Church from 10pm to 10.30pm, from 10.45pm to 11pm there was a candle-lit vigil at the War Memorial.
