County Youth Standard Bearer

Cambridgeshire county appoints a youth standard bearer who carries the county youth standard at ceremonial occasions throughout the year. The youth standard bearer is selected by competition from the youth organisations affiliated to Cambridgeshire Royal British Legion.

Affiliated Youth Groups Standard Bearer Training and Competition 2024

The event took place at Cottenham VC on Saturday 19 October.  26 members from our affiliated youth organisations took part.

The training and competition was carried out by the Parade Marshall and instructors of the Standard Bearers school and based on the requirements of a Standard Bearer on Remembrance Parades.  The standard attained by many of the Cadets with just one training session was very impressive, they all acquitted themselves extremely well.

10 Students were selected to take part in the competition.  The standard of the competitors was extremely high and very close; just 4.5 points separated all 10 competitors.

The winner of the competition was FS James Wallman, 1094 City of Ely Sqn. RAFAC.  He has been invited to undertake the position of County Youth Standard Bearer.

Anyone wishing to continue with the standard bearer training should contact the County Youth Officer and their names will be passed to the Parade Marshall.

Last year's winner, James Munday hands over the county youth standard to this year's winner, James Wallman
