School meets at 1400-1600 (new and old Standard Bearers are welcome to attend part or whole of the session)

School dates for 2023/24

All Schools are held in the Cottenham Village College Sports Hall, at the rear of the Village College, and all timings are 2 - 4 pm, , unless stated otherwise.

Standard Bearers (SBs) are invited to attend the Full session or part of the session, there is a T-Break at the midway point.

New SBs will receive individual training dependant on instructor availability. 

Dress – SB’s uniforms, as per Ceremonial Handbook,  are not required for training.  However, these may be checked periodically throughout the year.

These sessions are open to any SB, cadet and other military organisations are welcome to come along.

Cambridgeshire Royal British Legion 

Affiliated Youth Groups Standard Bearer Training and Competition. 

 

The event took place at Cottenham Village College on Saturday 22nd October.  Youth members from our affiliated youth organisations took part in a morning training session carried out by the Parade Marshall and instructors of the Standard Bearers school. The standard attained by many of the Cadets was very impressive, they all acquitted themselves very well. The competition held in the afternoon was competitive and reflected the commitment of those taking part.  

Congratulations to the winner of the competition Tahlia Banks of 2484 Sqn (Bassingbourn) RAFAC.  She has been invited to undertake the position of County Youth Standard Bearer and has accepted.   

 

Tahlia was presented with the winner’s trophy by R.G.H. Herriot OBE. DL. Colonel, County President Cambridgeshire Royal British Legion.

It has been a busy time for Tom and May.

Tom carried the National Standard of the Parachute Regiment at the Arnhem anniversary              Commemorations in September.  May joined Tom on the trip and was invited to take part in events. 

The Anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem (1944), which was part of Operation Market Garden, takes place every year in the Netherlands.
