What You Can Get Up To

There are many ways to get involved with the Royal British Legion in Buckinghamshire, depending on your interests, time, and availability.

Volunteer Locally
Support your local branch and community by helping with events, branch activities, and day-to-day volunteering across Buckinghamshire. Volunteers play a vital role in keeping branches active, welcoming, and able to support members and the wider Armed Forces community. Even a few hours a month can make a real difference.

Poppy Appeal Volunteering
The Poppy Appeal is the Legion’s largest annual fundraising campaign, and volunteers are at the heart of its success. You can help with poppy collections, organise local fundraising events, or assist at community activities throughout the appeal period, helping ensure essential services for veterans and their families are funded.

Youth and Community Involvement
Engage with local schools, youth groups, and community organisations to promote remembrance, educate about the Armed Forces, and encourage civic participation. Opportunities include supporting educational events, mentoring, and organising community activities that build understanding of the Legion’s work.

Standard Bearing
Represent the Royal British Legion with pride at remembrance services, parades, and civic events across Buckinghamshire. Standard bearers play a key ceremonial role, carrying the Legion’s colours with respect and precision while supporting the county’s public presence and remembrance traditions.

Parade Marshalling
Help ensure parades and remembrance events run safely and efficiently by supporting organisers, managing participants, and assisting with event logistics. Parade marshals are essential to keeping events organised, respectful, and enjoyable for all attendees.

Training and Development
Access training and development opportunities designed to support volunteers and branch activities. This includes courses on branch training, event management, welfare awareness, and ceremonial duties, helping you grow skills while making a valuable contribution to the Legion.

And More
There are many other ways to support the Legion’s work locally, from fundraising and administration to special projects and community initiatives. Opportunities vary by branch and time of year, so there is almost always a role that suits your skills and availability.
