Message from the Hertfordshire County Youth Officer, Lesley Starr

TS Royalist

I am not sure if any of you in The Royal British Legion  have ever heard of  T S Royalist, but she is a square rigged brig owned by the Sea Cadet Corps, and has been in service for approximately 40 years. Royalist has been well used for sea training, by not only Sea Cadets and Staff, (many of those cadets and staff help us with our annual Poppy Collection) but many other organisations in the UK. A number of years ago, I myself spent a wonderful week on Royalist, to sail on a tall ship was a life times dream come true, believe me. Over the years, Royalist and Cadets have regularly taken part in the annual tall ships race too.

Sadly, T S Royalist is coming to the end of her time, and the Cadet Units have been set a task of helping to fund raise for a replacement ship. For all of you Branches Affiliated to your local Sea Cadet Unit, hopefully now is the time we can help the Cadets and Staff in some of their fund raising activities. Please go and visit the Units and see what we/you can do to help.

Kind Regards
