THE ITALIAN JOB
A 6 day cycle ride from Catania to Rome, remembering
The Italian Campaign of WW2

TIJ

2014 will be a year of especial Remembrance, but few recall it is also the 70th anniversary of The Italian Campaign.

Being a bit of a cyclist - your resident web administrator for this part of TRBL's virtual world, that is - I organised a bike ride for a few select folk to cycle from Catania, Sicily to Rome in 6 days, ending with a remembrance service at The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier in Rome (though they refer to the place as 'Altare della Patrie' - 'The Alter of The Fatherland').

Along the way we also laid wreaths at Catania, Salerno, Minturno, Cassino (as in Monte Cassino), Anzio, Anzio Beach Head and Rome Commonwealth War Grave Cemetaries.

There were hills; yes, there were hills. But we had gears.... http://youtu.be/9pKfkvoPkyw
