The Zurgena & District was first established in 2009. 

 The inaugural  meeting in June 2009 of the Zurgena & District Branch of the Royal British Legion was opened by Mr Peter Padley, Chairman of District North also at the opening was his Vice-Chairman Chris Wyatt and Secretary Peggy Wyatt, who also gave a talk on the Welfare and the benefits of joining the biggest Charity in England for the Services past and present.

64 people attended the meeting at Latino's bar in La Alfoquia, of which 60 joined there and then. This soon rose to over 110 within a couple of months, and is now a very successful Branch, of which all involved should be very proud.
