Thurmaston

If you become aware of the death of:

  • A member of the Royal British Legion Thurmaston Branch
  • A veteran / serving member of the Royal Navy, British Army, or Royal Air Force, with a Thurmaston connection

Please advise the Branch Secretary by email thurmaston.secretary@rbl.community

We will arrange for our Branch Community Support Representative to get in touch if contact details (name, email, telephone number) are provided (for the person responsible for making arrangements, usually the family of the deceased). Please ensure that permission is obtained before passing anybody's contact details to us.

At the request of the family of the deceased, and with the agreement of the minister / officiant, it may be possible for the Royal British Legion Thurmaston Branch Standard with Standard Bearer to attend the funeral service; for us to lower the Royal British Legion flag to half mast at Branch HQ, and to offer assistance with ceremonial matters, such as the reciting of the Exhortation / Act of Homage; and to provide a Royal British Legion Altar frontal, and coffin drape for use at the funeral. There is no charge for any of these services provided by the Royal British Legion Thurmaston Branch.

We will also ensure that Membership Services are informed, and that any membership communications, such as our magazine, are no longer sent.

They shall grow not old

As we that are left grow old

Age shall not weary them

Nor the years condemn

At the going down of the sun

And in the morning

We will remember them.
