Following the 1914 remembrance Parade The Member of Parliament for the Eddisbury Constituancy, the Rt. Hon. Stephen O'Brien, presents the Certificate of Appreciation to Ernie Butcher, Secretary of the Tarporley Branch. to aknowledge ten years service to the Poppy Appeal.

On 21 February 2011 the Branch Chairman presented an award to Mr.Ernest (Ernie) Butcher for Meritorious Service  to the Royal British Legion.

Ernie served in the R.E.M.E. and for 40 years has been an active member of the Tarporley Branch, serving as Secretary for the last 14 years.

Tarporley members have good reason to be proud of their Tarporley Royal British Legion Branch as on 21 February 2011, at a short ceremony in the Legion Hall, they were presented with an award  as runners up in the President's Cup 2011.

Branch President Joe White presented the award on behalf of the North Cheshire Group to the Branch Poppy Co-ordinator Philip Jordan. The award is for the Branch which maintains or significantly increases its membership and ladies membership levels during the year and also shows an increase in contributions raised for the Poppy Appeal. This year as the result of increased fund raising activities and the generosity of the people of Tarporley the Branch was able to raise in excess of £9000.
