In the evening at St Gregory's Church War Memorial The Sudbury Branch Royal British Legion held a commemoration for VJ day marking its 80th Anniversary.

Member of the Branch were joined by: Air cadets & the Phoenix Marchers for a short parade followed by a welcome speech by the Mayor.

Details of the Suffolk Regiments involvement and sacrifices in the far east were read out by Taff Gillingham followed by Cadets and Town Councillors reading out the names of 60 WW2 & 2 civilians from Sudbury killed.

Prayers by the Branch Padre & laying of wreaths then marked this hugely significant day in our history.

The Phoenix Marchers then performed the RBL March as the parade was dismissed.

Later in the evening the Beacon was lit as all the Villages, Towns and Cities across the UK and beyond marked this significant day in our history.
