VE Day 80th Anniversary Commemoration

On the 8th May 25 the Branch had a gazebo situated in the market selling various items including the special VE Day 80 pins.

In the evening at St Gregory's Church War Memorial The Sudbury Branch Royal British Legion held a commemoration for VE day marking its 80th Anniversary.

Member of the Branch were joined by: Air cadets & the Phoenix Marchers for a short parade followed by a welcome speech by the Mayor, prayers by the Branch Padre & laying of wreaths to mark this hugely significant day in our history.

The Phoenix Marchers accompanied by the Christopher singers performed "I vow to thee my country" and "I'll remember" both sung fantastically well.

The Phoenix Marchers then performed a Drum Tattoo as the parade was dismissed.

Later in the evening the Beacon was lit as all the Villages, Towns and Cities across the UK and beyond marked this significant day in our history.

Both events were well supported as ever by members of the public.
