On Tuesday 7th August 2018, Redcar Branch member Andy Mcleod visited the Somme region of France. In a quiet corner of the Somme is the village of Contalmaison and the CWGC Contalmaison Chateau Cemetery. Buried here is local hero William Henry Short VC.

Andy Mcleod placed a Poppy Wreath on Private W. Short VC's grave on behalf of the Redcar Branch of the Royal British Legion exactly 102 years to the date of his death. Lest We Forget.
