CHRISTMAS MESSAGE AND UPDATE FROM REDCAR BRANCH

Hi everyone,

As we all know it’s been a difficult year not just for us but for people all over the world and we think of them all at this time of year. Our plans for 2020 were completely destroyed but many families have really suffered which puts our problems into insignificance.

We did our duty to the best of our abilities. We would loved to have done more but circumstances didn’t permit this, plus at times the weather wasn’t kind to us either but we did our best and I would like to thank everyone for the work they have done this year. Many of our team worked tirelessly, I’m not mentioning any names but we have a great little team here at Redcar. Some people do work for us that can’t be seen but we know we can rely on each other for support at any time. That’s what makes a great team!

We need more people to join us in order for us to continue our great work. Our poppy appeal has suffered due to the pandemic but we tried our best and we have a lot of plans for next year and with continued support and work we can catch up a little bit. We are fortunate that we live where we do, the people of the Redcar and Cleveland area really do support us. So many individuals, groups and children give us so much, both financially and in many other ways, they are unbelievable and we really do appreciate everything they do for us.

We have a lot to do in 2021, we want to continue to improve The Garden of Remembrance but need financial support, we would like to have the paving around the Cenotaph replaced and the steps renewed. All dreams, but with help I’m sure we, together can achieve it. As this year comes to an end, we can only hope for a better and more joyful 2021.

I wish everyone the best Christmas they can have, and real best wishes and good luck  for the New Year.

ONCE AGAIN A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR SUPPORTING US.

Stay safe and take care...  Eric Howden BEM
