Andy McLeod is an ex RAF man having served for 10 years, he is a member of Redcar Branch (North & East Yorkshire). He is a keen cyclist and proposed to raise funds for the RBL Poppy Appeal by cycling, unsupported from the Cenotaph on Whitehall, London to the Cenotaph at Coatham Road, Road, Redcar in under 24 hours. A feat which he accomplished, despite inclement weather on the last leg.
When he reached Redcar, he laid a Wreath at the memorial. One which he had carried from Whithall. Along with this, he stopped at various memorials on the way, and laid smaller poppy crosses.
He was met by friends, members of the public, and the Branch Chairman and the Branch President and Chairman, Mr Alan Frankland and Mr Eric Howden BEM.
All proceeds will go to the branch for the annual appeal.
