Rathfriland Branch, Royal British Legion
Rathfriland Branch of the Royal British Legion is now in its 77th year and still going strong for such a small rural village in County Down.
The members first travelled to Newry after the formation of the Legion there and it wasn't until after the Second World War that it was suggested by a leading figure in the Newry Branch that the members from Rathfriland were strong enough in numbers to create their very own Branch. This they did in 1948 using a number of premises to hold their regular meetings over the years.
The Branch is still here and up for the challenge of the future, and remains keen to support our beneficiaries in whatever way we can.
The Branch is grateful to all those Comrades who have been part of the history of the Branch over the last 77 years and had a helping hand in guiding the Branch forward for all those years.
We are always happy to have new members join us.
