Under the overall umbrella of the Royal British Legion (London), in Poynton we have…
- Poynton Branch of the Royal British Legion.
- Poynton Legion Club.
- Poynton Branch Trustees.
Poynton Branch
Poynton Branch was established to administer locally the benevolence activities of the Royal British Legion.
It has its own committee and uses the Club Premises to hold its meetings, generally on a monthly basis.
The branch has a President who like the Trustees is appointed/re-appointed by branch members at a special or regular AGM.
Its main objectives include the annual poppy appeal and administration of local benevolence. It also provides a presence at poppy day ceremonies during funerals/memorial services of forces personnel.
The Branch holds its own AGM once a year, traditionally the second week of November. It is timed to precede the Club AGM, customarily held on the same night.
Branch members are elected/re-elected during the annual AGM.
The Branch is governed by model bylaws last revised in 2012.
Poynton Club
Most people will more easily recognise Poynton Club as the venue providing members with social and sports activities at the Georges Road premises.
Poynton Club has its own committee responsible for the smooth running of the club and the development of its activities.
The Club holds its own AGM once a year, usually during November, at which The Chairman, Officers' and committee members are elected/re-elected.
The Club is governed by the rules of the Royal British Legion Limited which are currently under review.

Trustees
The land at George's Road West is registered with the Land Registry as a titled property, in trust for the members of the Poynton Branch of the Royal British Legion.
The trustees are a group of elected members (to a maximum of 4, minimum of 2 trustees), each of whom are tasked to look after the Georges Road land and premises for the prime benefit of the current branch membership; whilst upholding the Royal British Legion Charter.
Trustees are appointed/re-appointed by branch members at a regular or special AGM.
