Local author and historian Andy Ormiston was the guest last Thursday evening at the October meeting of the Orihuela Costa RBL.
Andy was at the gathering to speak about his new calendar, A Passion for Torrevieja, which was released last week for sale as a fundraiser by local charities, the RBL being just one of a number of beneficiaries.
He explained that the 2016 edition will be the 14th such calendar that he has produced and this year it follows the theme ‘Passion for Torrevieja’. It includes useful information about national and regional holidays and fiestas, cultural events, places to visit and many useful telephone numbers as well as U.K. and Irish Bank Holidays.
He said that over 70 photographs have been provided free of charge by a multitude of people including Keith Nicol, Fernando Guardiola and Objectivo Torrevieja and local graphic artist Carlos Garcia has also spent many hours formatting and designing the calendar.
During the meeting Andy met two branch members from the Royal Hospital Chelsea, Wayne Campbell and Skippy Teasdale, who had travelled to attend the Re enactment weekend in Murcia.
