His Majesty King Charles III is RBL’s new Patron

RBL is extremely proud and honoured that The King wishes to retain the long-standing tradition of Royal patronage with the charity. He takes on the role from the late Queen Elizabeth II, who had been Patron for more than 70 years, and who followed George VI and Edward VIII.

The King is an Armed Forces veteran, having served in the Royal Navy, and he comes from a family who have all served. He has a close affinity with the Armed Forces community and has been a long-standing supporter of our work, having attended the Festival of Remembrance for the first time in 1968, joining our membership as an Honorary Service Member in 1976 while in active service, and attending RBL engagements in his role as The Prince of Wales.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, King Charles became Commander in Chief of the British Armed Forces. He leads the nation in Remembrance at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday. 

We have been advised by the College of Arms to take a no wastage approach to updating collateral and materials. As The King is keen to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility, items will therefore be updated with the new Patronage as new stock is ordered.
