The Newmarket and District Branch aims and objectives for 2024.
1) To continue to develop the frequency and assortment of social events for the Branch.
2) The promotion and development of our established community links, utilising our existing contacts, developing further links, utilising social and local media resources, attending events for our promotion and recruitment, and providing any necessary resources and equipment to raise the profile of the Branch whenever possible to increase our membership numbers.
3) To develop and promote our Branch Community Support work, to provide adequate training and support to our volunteers and ensuring that we develop and publicise the support that we can provide to our client group. To develop the numbers of BCS volunteers within the Branch membership.
4) Support and develop further the Branch affiliations with the Youth Service Organisations in the Town, and to develop links with other Youth Community groups and organisations. To provide inputs and presentations to schools as part of the National Curriculum delivery.
5) Working in partnership with other groups and organisations to raise the profile/awareness and continue to support and take an active part in the Poppy Appeal and Remembrance events in the Town.
The Branch holds a Breakfast Club on the 1st Saturday of the month at 0900hrs, which is held at the Heath Court Hotel. Breakfast is £10 per person and is open to Branch Members, serving Military personnel, Veterans and Emergency Services personnel.
Other social events occur throughout the year and are promoted on our Branch Facebook page.
The Branch actively supports the Poppy Appeal in the Town in conjunction with the Poppy Appeal Organiser, Julie Mallows. The Poppy Appeal donations/collections have significantly grown over the past few years, due to the support and efforts of the Branch membership.
The Branch is working in conjunction with Newmarket Town Council and other organisations and groups for the Annual Remembrance Parade and Service.
The Branch is supported by Paul Hunt with his Military History Exhibitions (World War 1 and World War 2 memorabilia) at promotional and recruitment events.
Other groups and individuals support the Branch and we are extremely thankful for this assistance.
Our AGM will be held in October 2024 at the Heath Court Hotel, where an annual overview will be provided and the members elect the Branch Committee for the forthcoming year.
