Market Harborough

From time to time the Branch produces a special document as a single copy high quality bound volume. It may be for Branch archives, or a presentation item. Where possible the originals have been copied by scanning and reproduced in a similar format. pdf files have also been produced and some are accessible on this web-site.

The documents include

Book of Remembrance - of those whose names appear on the WW1 and WW2 war memorials in Market Harborough. Produced as a Branch contribution to the local commemoration of the new Millennium, it comprises six volumes which were presented to the Town and which are held in the Market Harborough Museum. Computer files exist but are not in pdf format. An interactive version in the style of a web-site is held by the Branch and the Museum.

A Day to Remember - 6 May 1997 - An album of Photographs and text recording the Ceremonies of the dedication of the new Standard  and of the Twinning of Market Harborough Branch with a Post of the American Legion in Toedo, Ohio. A copy was presented to our "Sister Unit", one is for Branch archives, one for the Museum and an on-line version is accessible here (9.2MB pdf)

A Report on War Memorials in the Branch area - the result of research by branch member, Norman Banting. It includes a photograph of each memorial and comments on its condition. The original volume is held in the Branch and a scanned copy in Market Harborough library. An on-line version is available here (5.3MB pdf)

Bernard's Writings - Bernard Halsall was an early Editor of Branch newsletter, In Touch and a great contributor. This collection of his well writen editorials, stories and articles makes fascinating reading. The original was presented to Bernard as a reminder of his contribution to the Branch. Two scanned copies were produced following his death in March 2011, for presentation to his son and daughter. An on-line version is available here (0.98MB pdf)

Memories are made of this - A compilation of some of the stories and articles which appeared during the first six years of In Touch. This 188 page A5 size soft-back book was produced in 2002, 'in house' to raise funds for Branch and Poppy Appeal.
