RECENT EVENTS

VJ Day 80

2025 marked the 80th anniversary of the Japanese surrender on August 15th, 1945, effectively meaning the end of WWII. This was commemorated at the Civic Centre Cenotaph with a short service and laying of wreaths which culminated in the National two-minute silence held at 12 noon.

The event, organised by Mansfield District Council and supported by this branch, was well attended with a collection of standards and a variety of veteran and civil organisations.
Standards paraded alongside the Union Standard were our Branch Standard, Kirkby in Ashfield RBL Branch, Royal Naval Association, RAF Association, Royal Green Jackets Association & the Mansfield Police.

If you wish to view the ceremony it can be seen on the Mansfield District Council Facebook page at Here.
