The Poppy
The poppy is the symbol of Remembrance and of the Poppy Appeal. Poppy Collectors appear in late October so everyone can make a donation and wear their poppy for Remembrance.

We are committed to bringing the message of Remembrance to the younger generation. Our Learning Pack provides curriculum resources and Remembrance Travel arranges tours for schools and youth groups.
National Memorial Arboretum
The UK's year round Centre of Remembrance. Located in Staffordshire and home to the Armed Forces Memorial, it's open every day (except Christmas Day) with FREE entry.

Shall have A Parade at 12 o/clock Marching from Loughton-RBL CLUB to
Kings-Green holding a Rememberance-Service for Loughton Community.
Everyone is welcome , most of Loughtons Local Groups & Schools attend.
The Town Mayor with other Dignitaries will be there so could you be as well.

REMEMBERANCE SUNDAY members muster outside the Branch at 11.30am.
THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION PARADE shall March-off at approx 11.55am
MILITARY Music /Standards/ ARMY/NAVY/ RAF/ CCTF/ AUXILIARIES Following.
PARADE proceeds down Church hill to King's Green = Loughton Town Mayor, local MP, District Councilor and all the local Dignitaries with Navy/Army/Raf/ Ambulance /Scouts/Giudes /Brownies. Schools, Firebrigade.
Police are there to control & stop traffic & prevent publice steping backwards off the kerb.
2011 was the biggest gathering Loughton had seen, We Hope to Have good weather 11/11/2013

Armistice Day =
Since WW1 Traditional all over United Kingdom at the 11th Hour on the 11th day of the 11th Month. We hold 2minutes silence for those that have fallen protecting our country & us from harm.
We all muster (smart but informal) at the memorial Kings Green, Loughton 10.30am
There a Bugler sounds Last-Post < 2min silence > then he sounds Reveille .
There will be a few Standard Bearers / Uniformed Gentlemen and I hope You?

Isn't it time we gave our Heroes the support they deserve?
Heroes is one of those words that is bandied about too readily these days, devaluing and diminishing the actions of real heroes.
The brave young men and women in our Armed Forces, especially those who are serving on the front lines in Afghanistan and Iraq, wake up every morning knowing that it could be their last. These are people who are our true heroes.
Serving thousands of miles away from their home and loved ones is tough. To lift the spirits of troops, we've created this online messageboard so they can read kind messages from our supporters. Standard bearer barred in insurance row
AN 87-year-old RAF veteran must stop carrying the Royal British Legion standard because she is too old to insure, the charity has said.
Madge Covey has been proudly holding aloft a legion flag pole at remembrance services and commemorations for three decades.

But now, despite her good health and physical fitness, the former air force cook has gone "beyond the age of insurance", the legion said.
Last week, the WMN revealed how 84-year-old Second World War hero Harry Billinge, of St Austell, was ruled out of selling Remembrance Day poppies after he was told he was too old and needed insurance.
"I feel very sad about it, I have shed a few tears, now I am angry about it," she said.
"I felt like giving it all up, but I am very devoted to the legion and I will continue with my other duties."
