The Poppy Shop in the Packhorse Centre in Huddersfield was opened by the Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Squadron Leader D.Dinmore, MBE DL RAF; Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Christine Iredale; Stephanie Mills, from Kirklees College, with daughter Poppy Mills, and two students from Kirklees College; President of Huddersfield Royal British Legion, Major (Rted) Jim W J Dodds BEM, and his wife, Carol Dodds; Chairman of Huddersfield RBL, Sue Beven; Squadron Leader (Retd) Barbara Crossland; and Richard Brook, Poppy Appeal Organiser, Huddersfield.
The Poppy Shop will be open from 28th October till 11th November, 2017, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm (excluding Sundays). We have had tremendous support from the Packhorse Centre, Greenwoods, Peters Store, Patrol Base, Kirklees College, and Kirklees Council.
This year the Poppy Shop has introduced a new way to make donations by using a contactless machine to donate £2.00, £3.00, or £5.00 with just a touch of your card.
Ther is a vast array of poppy items to buy, including Kirklees-made felt pictures, made by Gemma Sheering, felt artist, and Alice Parking from Huddersfield University has made a poppy garment to be raffled.
The Royal British Legion are happy to have the support form a great community in Huddersfield. Please show YOUR support by visiting them in their Poppy Appeal Shop.
