Horndon on the Hill

HORNDON ON THE HILL BRANCH

The Horndon on the Hill Branch was first established in 1948.

 

HORNDON ON THE HILL WAR MEMORIAL

Horndon on the Hill War Memorial, Orsett Road, was unveiled on Sunday 5th December 1920 by Lt Colonel Frank Hilder MP, Essex Royal Horse Artillery.

The memorial was restored to its original condition in 2014 with grateful thanks to L E Brand Funeral Directors who funded and carried out the restoration.

L E Brand is a local business started in Horndon in the 1800's.  They are now located in Stanford le Hope.

It was rededicated by Branch Chaplain Rev Steven (Max) Blake at the 2014 Remembrance Parade.

The war memorial was Grade 2 listed by Historic England on 13th February 2017 and added to the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest.
