The British Legion was formed on 15 May 1921 bringing together four national organisations of ex-Service men that had established themselves after the Great War of 1914-1918.
The main purpose of the Legion was straightforward: to care for those who had suffered as a result of service in the Armed Forces in the Great War, whether through their own service or through that of a husband, father or son
The HW Branch was formed in August 1921 with Dr LCC Reynolds as the first Chairman. They opened a club premises in Priory Road which they quickly out grew. In 1932 Dr Reynolds announced that the British Legion had purchased the old Bridge Mill site with a view to providing a new HQ for the British Legion within the town. The High Wycombe Branch is the 8th oldest branch in the country

The New Building was opened in 1934 and since that date the Legion has remained at the heart of the community of High Wycombe
