Help & Welfare

The Royal British Legion is committed to helping serving and ex service personnel, their dependents and carers in need. The Royal British Legion is able to achieve this through the flexible and wide range of services built on the foundation of experience.

The Royal British Legion maintains a presence within our community with the principle of welfare at its very heart.

The Royal British Legion can offer advice on war pensions, compensation claims, benefits and money matters as well as careers advice to those leaving the services.

The Royal British Legion can offer bereaved families an independent advice service to assist them through the inquest process.

The Royal British Legion can provide funds to those going through a temporary crisis such as homelessness, or assist with loans for property repairs or essential household items.

The majority of Legion work is delivered by a network of approximately 4,000 trained volunteer caseworkers, visitors and welfare staff.

Hardwicke and District Branch of The Royal British Legion are active in local welfare and work with veterans and the Gloucester Veteran's Breakfast Club to identify and assist veterans and their families in need.

Hardwicke and District also run a monthly lunch club, "The Tuesday Club" for those in need both young and old and the housebound of our community. A two course hot meal is provided and entertainment ranging through guest speakers, presentations, raffles and bingo. The Tuesday Club has been running successfully now for five years and is going from strength to strength. The Branch currently hosts between 50 and 70 people each month. For more information please see our Tuesday Club"  page on this site.

Those eligible for assistance from the Royal British Legion are those who have served at least seven days in the Armed Forces, or are a dependant of someone who has served.
