Hardwicke

Hardwicke and District Branch of The Royal British Legion launched the 2013 Poppy Appeal with a sprint on Sunday 27th October 2013.

Runners, Plodders, Dog Walkers and Cadets came together  for our 5th Annual Poppy Plod,  organised by  members from Gloucester Athletic Club and the Hardwicke and District Branch.

The plod went ahead despite the rain and wind, runners, walkers 3 Pyrenean mountain dogs, 1 Great Dane, 1 Labrador and 2 Lurchers also braved the weather. Members of Gloucester Athletic Club and Midlands Athletics prepared the course, helped to marshall and provided timekeepers and computer results. All finishers received a goodie bag and medals were received by 1st Man, Lady, Boy and Girl. We raised "£277 for the Poppy Appeal.

The course consisted of either 2.5km or 5km around Hardwicke and enabled entrants from all ages or abilities to take part together. The weather was bad with heavy rain and wind but everyone finished in time to enjoy a hot brew and bacon sandwichs provided by Carol Bratty in the club.

All finishers received a goodie bag and medals were received by 1st Man, Lady, Boy and Girl. We raised "£277 for the Poppy Appeal.
