Halstead Royal British Legion Branch -
Remembrance Sunday 2021

The Branch arranged a traditional ceremony to mark the event, starting at the WWII Memorial in Halstead Public Gardens.  The event was well attended by ex-armed forces and uniformed groups including the local Fire Brigade, Police Force and uniformed Youth Organisations including; Brownies, Scouts and Cubs.  The ACF Corps of Drums provided the music for the day and the 1163 Colne Valley Sqn RAF Air Cadets were present throughout and had been poppy collecting in Halstead High Street throughout the two weeks of the appeal.  The Halstead Templars Rugby Club kindly carried out all marshalling for the event and the Last Post was played by Ian Coote and Charlie Jarvis.

Wreaths were laid for the Halstead Branch by Toni Arundell, The Treasurer and (ex-veteran) Terry Wright of Daniel Robinson & Sons Funeral Directors, who support the branch throughout the year.  In addition, the Local Mayor, Templars Rugby Club, Halstead Football Club and Women's Institute also laid wreaths, to name but a few.
The procession marched up the hill through Halstead Town Centre to the WWI Memorial in St. Andrews Church Yard to pay their respects to the fallen there and for a service in St. Andrews Church.

The Chairman of the Halstead Royal British Legion Branch began the service by thanking all those who attended.

Representations were there from the local Rugby, Football and Women's Institute Clubs, to name but a few.

Local dignitaries were present, including Halstead Town Mayor, Mick Radley who later laid a wreath during the service. (left).
