Hailsham Remembers: A Moving Memorial Service on Remembrance Sunday

Hailsham residents gathered in large numbers on Sunday, 10th November, to honour the town's fallen heroes in a heartfelt Remembrance Sunday memorial service. The ceremony, held at the Hailsham War Memorial, saw a remarkable turnout, reflecting the community's deep respect for those who served and sacrificed in past conflicts.

The memorial began with a procession through the town, led by veterans, service members, and local cadets, followed by representatives from various local organizations, including scouts, guides, and community leaders. The procession ended at the War Memorial, where attendees of all ages assembled to pay their respects.

The service featured the traditional last post followed by two-minute silence at 11 a.m., followed by the rouse, during which Hailsham fell quiet in a powerful moment of remembrance. Following the silence, wreaths were laid at the memorial, with floral tributes from local officials, veterans' organizations, and community groups. The service also included readings and prayers, offering reflection and gratitude for the courage of those who fought in past wars.

The turnout in Hailsham was a testament to the town's commitment to remembering its fallen heroes. As the last notes of the bugler’s "Last Post" faded into silence, the community stood united in solemn remembrance, honouring the past while reflecting on peace for the future.
