9th June - 40s Tea Dance to commemorate 80th anniversary of D-Day

We held a very successful Tea Dance on Sunday 9th June with music and dancing from the 40s era.

Everyone joined in with the 40s style dress or period uniform and the atmosphere was truly 40s inspired.

Some were happy to join in with the Lindy Hop dancing of the era whilst others were content to absorb in the atmosphere of the music.

Scones, cake tea and coffee were provided and a great time was had by all.

And for the historians, a display of books and newspaper cuttings was presented to tell the story of events in Normandy in early June 1944.

This was a commemorative event held by the branch to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day and we are delighted to report that £114 was raised for the Poppy Appeal.
