To mark the 100th anniversary of the surrender of the Jananese on the 15th August 1945 a parade and service was held in Cleckheaton to mark this occcassion. Taking part in this service was Deputy Lord Lieutenant Mr Gordon Tollefson CSsJ. JP. DL, The Mayor and Mayoress of Kirklees Councillor Paul Kane and Mrs Susan Bedford. Lord Shaw of Northstead JP. DL and Lady Shaw. The County President of The Royal British Legion, South and West Yorkshire Mr Robert Mortimer.
