REMEMBRANCE 2018

As in the past the Branch will be playing a full part in the Remembrance period this year. We will hold a concert on 3 Nov and be selling poppies in Morrisons, Sainsburys and The Coop leading up to 11 Nov. We will be visiting schools during Remembrance week and on Sunday 11 Nov we will support all three communities at Remembrance services before a Remembrance Lunch.

REMEMBRANCE SERVICES

Owthorpe

• 8.45 am Saint Margaret Church Remembrance service.

Colston Bassett

• 10.50 am Saint John the Divine Church Remembrance service.
• After the service lay a wreath at the War Memorial.

Cotgrave

• 10.00 am congregate at the Welfare, march to the church with other uniformed groups. Unfortunately no Notts Army Cadet Band this year.
• 10.30 am attend Cotgrave All Saints Church Remembrance service.
• After the service lay a wreath at the War Memorial and march back to the Welfare.

Which of these services you attend is entirely up to you but if you attend in Cotgrave please march with the parade. We need to show off our Branch to the community, but we don’t need to march like guardsmen, so if you are able, come and take part.

POPPY APPEAL

As you know we did incredibly well collecting for the Poppy Appeal last year (£20,256). This year we are hoping to do just as well and so we need all hands to the collecting boxes from 20 Oct to 10 Nov. If you haven’t already done so please contact Peter McLaughlin (0115 9894610) or Chris Cockayne (01949 81956) after the AGM.

REMEMBRANCE LUNCH

After the church services we will all be moving to Blotts Country Club, Holme Place, Adbolton Lane, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, NG12 2LU for a slap up lunch. The bar will open at 12 pm and lunch will be served at 12.45 pm. The menu is a Carvery (Beef, Pork, Turkey) with a choice of sweets (Apple Pie and Custard, Homemade Sherry Trifle, Chocolate Profiteroles) and coffeewith mints to finish. The cost will be £21 per person, which includes a donation to the Branch Welfare Fund, topay on the day. There will be a raffle and prizes will be welcome. Feel free to invite family, friends and guests. The more the merrier.
