Branch Community Support (BCS)

Branch Community Support (BCS) aims to deliver a range of activities to meet the current and predicted future support requirements of the Armed Forces Community.

BCS aims to build on the foundations already created in their local communities and seeks to encourage and provide support to those hard-to-reach individuals and tackle the problem of loneliness and isolation.  You do not require to have served or be a Branch Member to get involved so, please contact the BCS Rep or Branch Chairman for more information and to register your interest.

There are individuals living in every community who may need our assistance. Our network of Supporters can meet those needs and provide a range of services and information to the Armed Forces community.

Services we provide under this scheme are:

Telephone Buddy – For people living alone and struggling to get out and socialise, our volunteers can become someone they can talk to on a regular basis.

Home & Hospital Visiting – Our volunteer visitors can offer a comradeship experience to people unable to meet others face to face, or for those that don’t have anyone to visit them.

Bereavement Support – Our Branches provide Legion representation and Standard Bearer attendance at funerals to support those who have lost a loved one.

Legion Awareness Events – In your community Legion Branches and Counties organise events to raise awareness of the services the Legion provides.

Local Touchpoints – Working in partnership with our local Area Teams, Branches run information sessions providing help and guidance on accessing further assistance. Further details on the services provided, how you can seek assistance or look to become involved with the delivery of Branch Community Support can be found on the following pages.
