Brampton & District Plaque Unveiling

John Bridge OBE DL,

Mick Forsdick – Branch Chairman and Pete Digby – Vice-Chairman
prepare for the unveiling

On Saturday 2 July 2022 the Brampton & District Branch unveiled a plaque at its new home, the Hare on The Green public house, Brampton.

The Branch has, over the past few years, been somewhat nomadic, however with the support of local publicans, Christopher and Lucy Hare, they have made the Hare on The Green, their new “Home”.  This venue now provides a perfect platform to hold events to raise both the awareness of the Branch as well as the Royal British Legion and the work they do to support Armed Forces Personnel, past and present.

It was a great honour for the Branch to have the Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Mr John Bridge OBE DL, conduct the unveiling along with his wife Jenny.  Along with Branch members, local dignitaries attended the ceremony including Cllr Michael Burke Chair of Huntingdon District Council and Cllr Karl Webb, Huntingdon Town Armed Forces Champion.

The Branch like many others has had a fluctuating membership but recently seen a renewed interest from the local community which has resulted in a rise I membership something that they are keen to build on.

The Deputy Lieutenant and his wife Jenny then went on to open the Brampton Village fete which the Branch had a stall providing information about the RBL as well as Poppy Appeal merchandise.

The Branch now meets regularly on the first Tuesday of the month at the Hare on The Green, starting at 7.00pm and welcomes anyone interested in supporting the Royal British Legion.
