Holocaust Memorial Day

Holocaust Memorial Day was created on 27 January 2000, when representatives from 46 governments around the world met in Stockholm to discuss

Holocaust education, remembrance and research.

At the end of this meeting, all attendees signed a declaration committing to preserving the memory of those who have been murdered in the Holocaust.

M62 Service of Remembrance

To mark the aniversary of the M62 coach bombing on 4 February 1974.

Anzac Day

Early on the morning of 25th April 1915, soldiers from the newly formed

Australia and New Zealand Army Corps landed at Gallipoli.

Alongside them were British and Irish soldiers of the 29th Division,
the Royal Navy Division, and the French 1re Division.

By the end of the first day the ANZACs had sustained two
thousand casualties, either killed or wounded.

It was the precursor to months of bitter warfare in increasingly
difficult conditions.

We gather to honour not just bravery, but deep loyalties,

and to reflect on the complex history that makes allies and enemies

and leads us through war and peace.

The War Memorial in Batley Memorial Gardens was unveiled,

in October 1923, by Sir Ian Hamilton commander of the

Allied forces in the Gallipoli Campeign.
